He has been a regular member of the ODI squad of England over the years as an classical batsman, useful all rounder and a brilliant fielder.

* He is the only English captain to take them to victory in any ICC Event - ICC World T20 2010
* He is only the second player to score a century and take a 5-wicket haul in an ODI match (after Sir Viv Richards) - 112* & 6/31 vs Bangladesh at Nottingham in 2005.
* He holds the record for Most ODI Runs for England - 5092
* He has represented England in Most ODIs - 197
* He is the only English player to score 5000 Runs, take 100 Wickets and grab 100 catches in ODIs (10th overall).

Not a record to be proud of. He is the only English player to score a double century in a lost ashes test (Only Syd Gregory from Australia has this unwanted feat), he scored 206 runs at Adelaide in Ashes 2006/07.
